Ancien "cinéma drive-in" du Pont-des-français

Historic site and monument in Mont-Dore
  • The old open-air drive-in cinema is still vivid in the memory of Mont-Dore locals and the New Caledonians that passed through. A quirky place where drive-in movie nights were a brand new and much-loved concept.

  • The locals remember the drive-in cinema where every evening was eagerly awaited. Audiences came from Mont-Dore, greater Nouméa, and sometimes from the depths of the bush.

Today, the parking lot of the former drive-in cinema is enjoying a second life. Every Sunday it is the scene of the Pont-des-Français Foire aux affaires (flea market) from 6 a.m. to 12 p.m. You will find stands there where you can hunt for a hidden pearl, you can eat from breakfast to lunch with Thai and Vietnamese...
