After Japan downgraded New Caledonia to its lowest alert level on Tuesday 18 November, New Zealand has now followed suit, placing the archipelago at Level 2 out of 4, in line with Australia.

As of Thursday 20 November, New Caledonia is once again officially recognised at a travel advisory level comparable to that of France, the United States or Bali.

This update is a positive signal for the sector, and we sincerely thank all partners for their continued support!

As 2024 draws to a close, New Caledonia is seeing renewed momentum in both the Australian and New Zealand markets. The return of Air New Zealand and the strengthening of regional connections are encouraging signs for the destination and for all those who work alongside us as the sector continues to rebuild.

At the same time, New Caledonia Tourism is deepening its collaboration with partners through thoughtful, high-value initiatives — such as recently hosting Australian chef Warren Mendes, welcoming a New Zealand travel agent famil, and launching a joint sales campaign with Ignite Travel.

These actions reflect our commitment to rebuilding together, keeping the destination front of mind and supporting shared opportunities as traveller confidence returns.
