Lifou is a customary land where Kanak traditions are deeply respected. To ensure a positive experience, please show respect for the locals and the environment.

Please:

  • Dress appropriately; bikinis are only allowed on the beaches.
  • Avoid using oil before swimming to protect the lagoon.
  • Be accompanied by a guide when visiting cultural and natural sites; walking alone among the tribes requires permission from locals.
