The coastal festival takes place every year in early December in the small tribe of Eni, south of Maré, in the district of Medu. It is an unmissable event where fishermen and clans from the southern sea showcase the riches of the sea. Snappers, Wabebulu parrotfish, lobsters, shellfish, and sea urchins fill the stalls, offering visitors the opportunity to discover and taste fresh produce right on the spot thanks to the food stands.
Beyond gastronomy, the event invites visitors to discover southern Nengone through various tourist and cultural activities. Boat trips, introductory diving lessons, hikes on specially opened trails, and weaving workshops with the tribe's mothers allow visitors to immerse themselves in the local culture and nature. These moments of sharing reinforce the authenticity of the festival and its roots in tradition.
The coastal festival also features a major sporting event: the Trail Air Calédonie de Maré, now in its fourth year. Runners can choose from three routes, taking them between beaches, forests, and cliffs, crossing the southern tribes in an exceptional setting. The warm encouragement of the locals along the route creates a unique atmosphere. For three days, the festivities continue with crafts, tribal songs and dances, a music springboard, pasta party and various activities, all in the friendly spirit of the Loyalty Islands. A special 3-night, 4-day package allows you to enjoy the experience to the fullest.
