The Iaai island soap company ISI – produces solid soaps according to traditional methods, using copra oil furnished by the local oil mill (SAS SAPO).
The soaps are destined exclusively for the local market, with a range of household soaps bearing the trademark « Iaai » and a range of beauty soaps sold under the trademark « Ouvéa ». The intention is to promote scents obtained from New Caledonian flowers, such as vanilla, sandalwood, etc. The production of the soap factory is closely tied to the neighbouring oil mill and to the whole coconut business, which provides income to around a hundred copra farmers on the island.
