39 rue Jean Jaurès, Place des Cocotiers, 98849 Nouméa
In the heart of Nouméa, go back in time and explore the history of New Caledonia from 1853 to 1975.
This 19th century colonial building was the first bank in New Caledonia, the Marchand Bank in 1874. It was bought by the City in 1880 and became the City Hall until 1975. Today it houses the Nouméa City Museum since 1996. Organized on three levels, go back in time to the Nouméa of the 1900s, then to the First World War. Alongside the major historical dates, you will find the daily life of the Caledonian men and women in Nouméa and in the countryside. Dedicated to the history of New Caledonia...
