Join the women of the Goro tribe for a cultural exchange during their market and a weaving workshop. Discover unique creations and the transmission of traditional knowledge.
Founded about ten years ago by Eliane ATITI, the E Nga Tan Vuu Association has become a major catalyst for women's empowerment within the tribes. Guided by a commitment to socio-cultural progress, the association focuses its efforts on three fundamental pillars: food self-sufficiency, preservation of ancestral knowledge, and the creation of cultural bridges.
Every Saturday morning, the local products and seafood market transforms into a hub of artistic expression and exchange. The women of the association gather to offer workshops in weaving with coconut leaves, a traditional art of which they are the guardians. Baskets, containers, hats, and other creations take shape under their skilled fingers, perpetuating a craft passed down from generation to generation.
The site also features a large fare, which boasts a breathtaking view of the Grand Lagon Sud. This space becomes the setting for group meals made from local products, providing a unique culinary experience that reflects the essence of local culture.
The association does not limit its actions to the local community. It expands its influence by establishing active collaborations with other women’s groups in New Caledonia and the Pacific. These regular meetings strengthen the network and allow for combined efforts to create a more significant impact, both culturally and economically.
In summary, the E Nga Tan Vuu Association embodies a bold vision and a commitment to women's empowerment and the preservation of traditions. Its story, forged through ten years of passionate effort, continues to inspire and forge connections beyond tribal and cultural boundaries.
