    A must-see in Nouméa, Place des Cocotiers is a central meeting spot and entertainment hub. Known for its bandstand and Céleste Fountain, this shaded, fully pedestrianised esplanade is perfect for a family break in the heart of the city.

    After exploring the city centre, extend your adventure with either a shopping session or a fun-filled family activity just a few steps away!

    Option 1: Shopping in the heart of the city
    Just a few minutes’ walk from Place des Cocotiers, treat yourself to a must-do shopping break in downtown Nouméa.

    Start with Nouméa Centre shopping mall (2 minutes on foot), a favourite among locals, offering a wide range of shops: fashion, jewellery, snacks, sweets, cosmetics, hair salon, newsagent, cash machine, and much more.

    Then head to rue de l’Alma (5 minutes on foot), the city’s main shopping street, where you’ll find a variety of popular European brands, electronics shops, sports equipment stores, perfume outlets and duty-free boutiques. This lively street is perfect for a fun family shopping experience — you're bound to find something that the kids will love!

    Option 2: Family Fun – 5 minutes on foot
    Fancy a playful pause during your tour? Just a few minutes’ walk from Place des Cocotiers, you’ll find two great options:

    Laser Game: Step into an exciting match across three maze-like courses! Suitable for children aged 7 and over (minimum height 1.20 m), this action-packed and fun-filled activity guarantees laughter and adrenaline for the whole family.

    Flipper Addict (open certain days from 2 p.m.): Rediscover the nostalgic charm of arcade games at this quirky venue dedicated to pinball machines. A great time for parents and children to share, surrounded by colourful, retro-style machines.

    Stop 5: World War II Museum & Maritime Museum – 9 and 10 minutes on foot
    Both museums are housed in historic buildings and offer interactive exhibits for a fun and engaging insight into New Caledonia’s history.

    Detour 1: Zoological and Forest Park – 10-minute drive from the cruise terminal
    A true green haven in the heart of Nouméa, this park showcases New Caledonia’s rich biodiversity, including the famous cagou bird. Relaxing and educational, it features a botanical garden, a zoo, and a small educational farm.

    Detour 2: Aquarium des Lagons – 12-minute drive from the cruise terminal
    A firm favourite with both locals and tourists, the Aquarium des Lagons showcases the country’s diverse marine ecosystems. Themed exhibits highlight iconic species of the archipelago, such as the banded sea krait (tricot rayé), glowing coral and the nautilus.

    Detour 3: Magenta Aquatic Centre – 15-minute drive from the cruise terminal
