Library (former town hall)

Historic site and monument, Historic patrimony, Prison in Bourail
  • During the penal colony era, the building that currently houses the Bourail municipal library in the centre of the village served as the town hall.

  • The current municipal library of Bourail was, in the 1890s, a courtroom for justices of the peace as well as a meeting room for the municipal commission, before it became the village town hall. This building now houses the municipal library while the current town hall is located opposite.
