Claudine Verger, a well-known Great South personality with her large farm, produces fresh fruit and vegetables all year round.

Also known as the “Orchards of Mouirange” Claudine's large and diversified farm has grown from 23 to 220 hectares in the last twenty years. When you meet Claudine—a friendly and informative farmer from Mouirange in Le Mont-Dore Sud—she’ll be happy to talk to you about the challenges she faced diversifying her crops, which included finding new product varieties to produce so as not to compete with other farmers. Having successfully diversified, she now offers customers more than a hundred unusual product varieties like dragon fruit and yellow watermelon. Her dream is to make a valuable contribution to New Caledonia’s food self-sufficiency.

In 2021, Claudine set herself an ambitious challenge: with the help of her brother and sister-in-law, she decided to offer discovery days to anyone interested in finding out more about the farm and the enjoyable life it affords her. They are also hoping to offer on-site accommodation for visitors who want to extend their stay in Mouirange.

Tours start on Wednesday 11 August and will allow participants to enjoy:
○ A guided tour of the "Orchards of Mouirange” farm
○ Swimming in the water holes all around the farm
○ A private on-site market offering lots of different fresh fruit and vegetables.
