Prony thermal springs

Historic site and monument, Historic patrimony, (Thermal) baths, 19th C in Mont-Dore
  • The hot springs are still going strong, and the one at Kaoris Bay is equipped with a deck, a walkway and picnic tables for hikers’ enjoyment.

  • Built into the deck is a 2.5 m x 2 m rectangular pool, about 1 m deep, and a wooden kiosk. The pool was the island’s first thermal “baths” and was described by Charles Lemire in 1878 as having a wooden bottom and a drainage channel.
