    A theater steeped in history
By entering the Théâtre de l'Ile, you immerse yourself in the history of the prison and the penal colony. The building - which was originally to be designed to accommodate a church - was transformed into a sewing and shoemaking workshop in 1886, then a food store and a warehouse until the departure of the Penal Colony Administration.
A building transformed into a theatre
Abandoned for a long time so that it was nothing more than a ruin, the building would be reborn from its ashes to house the Théâtre de l'Ile. Inaugurated in 2000, it testifies to a successful architectural restoration. Its contemporary design blends perfectly with the vestiges of the past that have been carefully preserved. More than just a theatre, it has become a place of memory for New Caledonians.

Guarded parking is available opposite the theater.

Ticketing is open for the entire programme as soon as the season opens. You can buy your tickets online via the Ticket NC platform or at the on-site box office during opening hours.
